Hi all,
Now this might seem silly to Ragic Support, as they most definitely have seen it all before!
Firstly, I would like to say that I believe that it would be great when we are able to pre-filter a sub table with a specific number of rows as default, essential having a new sub table Filter feature option. And I have seen that a feature request or requests exists for this, as well as quite a large number of people having vouched for the inclusion as well.
For more information on sub table default filters see Subtables (ragic.com)
Actually, Ragic Dev said that it was not a simple inclusion at the moment, but they are looking into a way to maybe include it at this time anyhow but also explained that the alterations to the design to accommodate such inclusion correctly, was being looked to anyway, as part of the bigger plan itself. So basically, this feature is planned for the future (at any rate). And they will contact those persons that made inquiry and let them know when it is available!
Here is the thread… Rows per page for Form View Subtables - Feature Request - Ragic Community
As always!! Very exciting stuff from Ragic!!!
However, this is where my question arises! In the meantime, I would like to know if there is a way to be able to… use the Fixed Filter feature in a parent sheet to pre-filter a sub table’s records?
Just a thought!
In the parent sheet, if I first filter out and fix filter, that sheet, or rather a copy of that sheet. Is there a way to then embed the sub table such that it now uses this the new copy of the sheet with the fixed Filter, instead?
It was a bit unclear at that point, as I made setting changes to version of the sub table that was not or no longer embedded, and as far as I recall the changes were being reflected in the sub table present, anyway. I may need to still play around with it some more, experiment with it some more, if you will. But any insights you can give here will go a long way for me at this time! As am still apparently not familiar enough with this part of the sub table embedding process in Ragic.
I did try! Strangely I found. There were in my case two iterations in the Create sheet from sub table Tool, one for each version of the sheet, that being the original sheet as well as the new copy. But after I re-embed the new copy, it showed all records, hence it did not seem to take into account the fixed filter that I mentioned the inclusion of.
Actually, I was also wondering at the time, why there were two iterations, when there should have been just one. Seeing that the there was only one sub table. Does the system automatically create one for each copy of the sheet as well?
Actually, in hindsight, this may be because I re-embed the sheet, and the first copy was retained, I guess. Not sure yet!
Anyway, looking forward to your response!
And thanks, Ragic! It’s really been the most amazing experience!
And I would like to say thanks to everyone in the Ragic Community who has helped me out along the way!
And I need to mention, and also say thanks to the Support Team at Ragic who play a impressive, decisive and genuine role, and somehow, always seem to meet or exceed my expectations!
Bye for now! And thanks to everyone!
