Resizing column widths doesn't hold

Is there any way to resize column widths so that they stay that way? We have a lot of columns in our current DB, many of which could be much narrower and allow us to see much more info. on the screen at one time, without having to side-scroll. But they always revert to some default width.

Just to make sure, did you enter the sheet’s design mode when adjusting the column widths?

Thanks for your prompt response! I have not done that, and don’t know how. But I will check with the person who set this DB up and see if he can show me, assuming I have permission.
